The skin must be prepped with appropriate medical grade skincare for six weeks prior to a peel. This ensures the skin is healthy enough to undergo a peel and maximizes results. This step is important to minimize risk of complication in skin of color, such as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

Emily will go over the treatment plan for your unique skin concerns and guide you through the use of products to prepare the skin as well as to care for it afterward.

What peel is best for melasma?

Cosmelan and Dermamelan peels are an excellent choice for melasma. Cosmelan treats superficial epidermal melasma while Dermamelan targets deep dermal melasma.

What to expect:

Your skin will be cleansed and a mask applied with the active ingredients. You will go home with this mask on and rinse it off a period of hours later. Your peel includes 4 months of the required at home skincare program, after which you will go on a maintenance routine.

Melasma may be treated in combination with a prescriptive oral medication. Our prescribers can consult with you regarding this option.

Will my melasma go away fully?

Melasma is a chronic skin condition that is managed, not cured.
