Radiesse Collagen Stimulation
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a biostimulant. It signals to your cells to produce their own collagen and elastin again. Hyperdilute Radiesse is a gel that is laid in the tissue under the skin with the use of a small cannula. The gel breaks down in your body over the course of three months and during that time collagen and elastin have been stimulated to replace the volume of the gel. The effect of this biostimulation is firmer, healthier, less crepey skin.
Can Radiesse Treat Other Areas?
Yes, Radiesse can be used to rejuvenate the face, neck, chest or décolleté, hands, cellulite on the buttocks or thighs, and other body areas with skin laxity such as the abdomen, or aging skin of the arms and above the knees.
How Much Radiesse Will I Need?
To treat the face, two syringes are typically recommended per treatment. Best results are achieved with a series of three treatments. Treatments can be performed every 2-4 months.
To treat the neck or to treat the décolletage, one syringe per treatment for 3-4 treatments.
One to two syringes of Radiesse treats both hands. Whether you will require one or two syringes depends on the laxity of your skin. Younger clients tend to require only one syringe. One treatment is typically sufficient.
To treat above the knees, 1-2 syringes per treatment for 3 treatments.
Arms may require 2-4 syringes per treatment for three treatments, depending on the surface area being treated.
Treating the abdomen or cellulite on the buttocks or thighs will depend upon the surface area being treated and would be carried out over 3 treatments.
How Long Does Radiesse Last?
Results are long lasting. Frequency of maintenance will depend on the individual. Your own collagen and elastin is formed, which eventually breaks down slowly as the aging process continues. Radiesse collagen stimulation gives longer lasting results than the use of some softer consistency hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and has been shown to last 2+ years. Maintaining your results will require less treatment than your initial series.
What Will the Treatment Feel Like?
Radiesse is spread throughout the treatment area with the use of a cannula. A cannula is a thin, blunt tipped tube; it is not sharp like a needle. The treatment is well tolerated. There is lidocaine contained in the product and the area will quickly begin to feel numb. You might notice immediate swelling which will resolve in a few days.
Is There Downtime?
Swelling is common after this treatment. You can expect three or more days of swelling. Bruising can occur and may take up to two weeks to heal depending on the individual. You may reduce your risk of bruising by avoiding alcohol and blood thinning agents like aspirin, ibuprofen, ginko biloba for 3-7 days prior to treatment. You may also take arnica supplements for a week before and after treatment.
It is recommended to ice the treatment area intermittently for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling. You may take Tylenol if the treated area feels sore. Acute pain is not an anticipated reaction. You would contact your provider if you experience acute pain.
What Does Radiesse Cost?
Radiesse biostimulation is $1,100 per syringe.
